Not many know, but In Australia the World Heritage Ningaloo Reef located near Exmouth is the only place guests can join a whale shark tour to dive, swim and snorkel with whale sharks, whales and other marine animals . The largest fish in the world assemble around the Reef of Ningaloo every year from March to August. In Western Australia, the best time of the year to see whale sharks is in the spring months between March and August. Whale sharks love warm tropical waters. The Ningaloo Reef Whale Shark season starts in March and runs throught till August. Exmouth and Ningaloo Reef in Australia are popular with tourists and the known safe environments. They are thought to have a fast growth rate when very young, which then slows down, taking them a long time to reach maturity and adding to the vulnerability of this iconic species.

position:relative; We went with Ningaloo whale sharks (20 people) was able to get 5 swims with the whale shark in the allowed 1 hr time limit but was a little dissapointed with access back onto the boat as they don,t allow the use of a ladder due to the number of peole on the back board but it is not in the water so for less mobile people or ones with less fitness hard to get back on board

For some tour participants snorkelling alongside a whale shark is a life changing and a totally surreal experience .
