All in all, it was a great experience for my first B787 flight. I was almost more excited about finally getting past the front desk of that lounge than I was being wined and dined in a fancy seat all the way to China. Right? This meal was quite good! For those who aren’t in the know about all things LAX, the second phase of the TBIT is still very much under construction. Other that that one time arriving from Vienna on Austrian Airlines last year, I’ve never once had to experience the dreaded remote gates. There’s been quite a few reports of questionable safety “issues” when it comes to Chinese airlines lately, and thankfully I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. It had one ad of Allegiant that flies to Sarasota/Brandenton and one of Jetblue that flies to Fort Lauderdale and more local ads, after my cousin came inside we left and downstairs I saw a Southwest room that had liveries of the vintage gold, Orca, and the old livery with the blue. Xiamen Airlines business was really impressive to me for several reasons. At least I thought I did at that particular moment. The business class cabin ended up being completely full this evening, which isn’t shocking considering the late departure time and overall length of the flight. 04.

Fujian province in China is well known for producing tea and also enjoys a great tea drinking culture. I have to laugh at all of the sustainability paraphernalia . lol. Yeah, that KAL lounge back at LAX was kind of nice, but I really wasn’t expecting such a good meal on this airline.
This second phase is vitally important to this airport, because there simply aren’t enough gates available at the main terminal during peak hours. For flights that take sometimes over 13 hours, it is good to have selection, and selection definitely lacked on the Xiamenair IFE system.
However, this is a review after all, and it’s fun to sit on my perch (this blog) and try to be critical. 01. Saturday, my aunt and I just went to my hometown airport (Richmond Int’l) to pick up my cousin from her flight from Atlanta, (she flew on a Delta), before we walked inside, I saw the tail of a FedEx and a UPS, and a one Delta CRJ that was probably landing from somewhere else, when I went inside I was kinda satisfied, it had an ad of Jetblue for their miles and rewards, check-ins for Southwest, Delta, United, Jetblue, Spirit, American and, Allegiant (cuz sadly those are the only airlines that fly to and from Richmond).
