It's all on the master to give characters reasons and feels to, well, descend into the avernus (spoiler?). BG:DIA is advertised as a more narrative campaign than DOTMM. We think you'll have a much more enjoyable experience. I can be swayed on Unearthed Arcana on a case-by-case basis. Seeing as it is an adventure for characters level 1-13 and we are level 2 currently... and only play bi-weekly there's obviously no way we're going to finish it before early access starts.
Once you get into Avernus proper, it becomes much more sandboxy. It's a great module but it's most definitely not a good one for new DMs unless everyone at the table is okay butchering the experience and mostly just roll some dice while listening to a background story). Characters start as hardly more than commoners stuck in Baldur's Gate and this gives them a good, narrative drive from levels 1-5. This guide has everything you need to prepare and run Descent Into Avernus. And the rumours are that it has vanished, leaving nothing but a crater.
There are tons of possible endings to let your party decide what they want to do. If the characters gets intrigued by the, very few, plot hooks, they will love it. I feel like they may have run out of time writing yet look at the last couple chapters are completely void of content, but even with that it's really fun to run and it's not hard to figure out how to do the end. I'm so excited to play Early Access (can't bring myself to shorten it to EA... every time I see EA I get scared for a moment that people are talking about Electronic Arts) but something that has been hinted at for a while and confirmed in the Panel from Hell is that Descent into Avernus plays some part in BG3.

I'm pretty clueless. The campaign wants the master to work hard on it, mostly in the third act, which have a list of location, but it's on you on connect them properly, and fifth acts, where you are completely left by yourself. Included are extensive preparation and chapter-by-chapter notes alongside tons of page references and ideas. BG3 is set to be released for Microsoft Windows and the Google Stadia cloud gaming service in early access in October 2020. I played it under a newbie DM and people sticking to the what's on the page shouldn't be DMs. I really love it, there are some good characters here, a really good background story and a nice, epic, adventure.
